The Registrators formed in Japan in the late '80s, influenced by the leading punk rock bands of the time. Lead vocalist Hiroshi, alongside bassist Ren, guitarist Jun, and drummer Deira started by mainly playing covers of bands like the Damned, the Clash, or the Sex Pistols. During the following times, the band managed to record several singles, also appearing on Chloroform, a Japanese punk rock compilation. In the midst of the '90s, the squad offered its first full-length album, Terminal Boredom, propelling their tunes to wider audiences all across Japan and Europe.

In 1998, the EP 4 Vibrate strengthened even more of the band's cult following. In 2000, the Japanese crew offered its second major recording, Sixteen Wires From the New Provocate. In that same year, Rip Off records offered the first of two compilations presenting the band's first Japanese releases, Singles. Two years later, Rare Tracks, yet another collection of some of the band's better tunes, hit record stores.

Very little info can be found on this band after this point. They did release a few more thing s. The albums "Hello computers", "No Fantasy", and a split cd with "Water closet",depart from a garage punk sound, and have much more of a powerpop vibe. All 3 of these albums were only released in Japan.
