He began playing guitar at age 13 in 1996 and studied music technology at Keele University in 2001 to 2005 (along with philosophy). It was here that his tastes for electronic textures developed as he gradually abandoned conventional rock instrumentation and composition for far more abstract (and lengthy) pieces that straddled the sonic spectrum between ambient, hip hop, so-called IDM and post rock. After graduating in 2005, he briefly re-settled in his home town of Oxford before moving to London in 2006 where he now resides, playing guitar for burgeoning indie/post-punk band Lightning Strikes the Empire State. As a result, his solo output under Reconnaissance has been more sporadic since 2005 and consists mostly of remixes rather than original composition. 2.
Reconnaissance is a metal band from Charlotte, NC. The band was created in 2008 by Ricardo Estrada and has since them made a name for themselves in the Underground Music Scenes in Charlotte and Boone through headline performances at Tremont Music Hall, Charlotte’s Underground, The House of Music, the Klondike Café, Carolina Bistro and various other venues (including their involvement in the Charlotte Music Festival at Tremont Music Hall). Their specific metal sound consists of a blend of blues, metal, classical, rap, rock, industrial, and other subgenres from which the band draws influence, making the band’s style switch drastically between songs (ex. “Shadow on the Wall” compared to “Condemned”) For more info on the band: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OuEY9dq6Je0 The band has so far released some home recordings of their songs as a Rock Opera titled “Circumstance” in the fall of 2009 with an actual CD Release titled “Of Roses and Ravens” set to be released in the fall of 2011.
