Reason to Lie

Reason To Lie are a 5 piece band from Wigan who…let’s be honest….have no idea who and what they really sound like. With a wide range of influences from Wilco to Stevie Wonder, Biffy Clyro to Evan Dando there is no deliberate limiting direction or press friendly answer to give: “It’s all about the melody and writing songs we enjoy playing and listening to.” The song writing is usually initially focused around the acoustic guitar, therefore descriptions of Indie Read more on Last.fm
Reason To Lie are a 5 piece band from Wigan who…let’s be honest….have no idea who and what they really sound like. With a wide range of influences from Wilco to Stevie Wonder, Biffy Clyro to Evan Dando there is no deliberate limiting direction or press friendly answer to give: “It’s all about the melody and writing songs we enjoy playing and listening to.” The song writing is usually initially focused around the acoustic guitar, therefore descriptions of Indie, Alt-Country, Rock, Acousticana, Americana, Pop-Rock (the most recent description was Folk….does Alt-Folk exist yet?) have often bounded around. A recent promoter described the band as reminding him of Whiskeytown (Ryan Adam’s previous band) – to RTL - there’s a lot worse things to be compared to! Whilst reuniting The Atomic Hound Dog (who supported the likes of Mohair / Witness / Tom Hingley / Matt Deighton / Beverly Martyn / Clint Boon and the fabulous Jim Bob from Carter USM on his UK tour) in 2012 for a 10th Anniversary celebration of their debut album “Twelve”, vocals duo Andy Unsworth and Carolyn Walsh found the onstage and song writing chemistry flourished and started Reason To Lie by once again combining with drummer/percussionist Si Ellis in January 2013. Also recruited were perfectly complimenting musical soulmates in Mark Jay on lead guitar and Stephen Needle on bass guitar. With a comfort zone playing both stripped down acoustic sets involving two or all members or with a full band full sound set up – the band delivers great songs and gigs that you would need a heart of stone not to warm to and enjoy. The band are currently recording and mixing some acoustic demos in Wigan and are planning to go into the studio to record material for a full release later in the year. Read more on Last.fm.
