Rachel Fine is a singer from Brooklyn, New York. Although her music is often referred to as a blend of electronica and neo-soul, Rachel's ragged, edgy sound embodies a variety of genres. She has been described as "Portishead meets Jill Scott." In early July of 2009, Rachel released her debut album "Own Your Own". Recorded at Isa Badda Badda Studios in Brooklyn, the album was co-written with composer/producer Timothy Schletter. Rachel is credited with writing all lyrics on the album, with the exception of Fly By which was co-written with Timothy Schletter.

All music on the album is credited to Timothy Schletter. Rachel has publicly cited she draws from deeply personal experiences to craft her lyrics. In an August 2009 interview with Brent Herrig, she was quoted as saying: "I write poetry. First and foremost. And I never force it, I never sit down and say 'ok, I should get a song written today'.

I write when there's no other choice. I write when I am so emotionally charged that to NOT write would kill me. And in the placement of each carefully weighed word, I release a little piece of that energy. And when the song, which has written itself really, is irrevocably complete, I am FREE.

From that experience, from that emotion, from that relationship, from those ruminating thoughts, from that space. And as Tim & I find the groove that best fits that chapter, and as he gently takes over and paints the complete auditory picture, I feel overwhelmingly relieved because I really can let it go. And I pray that in my brutal, awkward, embarrassing honesty, I can intimately connect with one listener who has, to this point, felt utterly misunderstood by the world. That's why I write, that's why I sing." More information can be found at Rachel's official website http://www.rachelfine.com. Rachel is also active on Twitter, MySpace and Facebook.
