Rabbit Velvet is the solo work of American songstress, Danielle Kimak Stauss. Born in the industrial scruff of Elizabeth, New Jersey, she grew up near music mecca Asbury Park and absorbed British-Post Punk through early MTV, and (older, award winning) WHTG FM - a massive influence on her work. The Rabbit Velvet debut album,"Crows and Doves" is being s-l-o-w-l-y expanded out to the the planet via a DIY, grassroots transport. It has kindly been included in some "Best Of 2010" lists: Leonard's Lair/UK, Scholars and Rogues/US, PAC/Portugal, Audities-POP UNDERGROUND/UK, KALX/Berkely, and Machine Age Voodoo-Rutgers Radio/US.

In March of 2012, the track, "Beautiful Things" was selected for air play by renowned music afficionado/DJ, Gary Crowley on "BBC Introducing", BBC/London 94.9. The album spent time on the CMJ lists via WRSU/Rutgers, and has also received support by various djs at WFMU, BAY Radio UK/Wales, WDHA, WJLK/S*ALT, KALX, and KZSC. Other spins have been shared at Gone Fishing for Bluer Skies/Japan, In No Particular Order/US, and in Portuguese dance halls for the goth noir industrial vampires via "Bouquet of Dreams" shows. RV has added to the luscious calm atmosphere in noted interior furnishings mecca "Ochre"/NYC and thumped through the legendary walls "The Saint" in Asbury Park.

Hofner Guitars in Germany selected RV's video for compilation on GOTV/Austria. Stauss was the former front and co-writer with NYC noir-twang wonders "The Lost Patrol"(NYC) helping to forge their foundational status via the bands six earliest albums. She also co-fronted Asbury Parkers "Afterglow" with Stephanie Neuhaus and Jason Mattia ( Level One Music) to garner "Best Acoustic Band and Best Female Vocal" - Asbury Music Awards. Stauss penned albums with several other NYC area and downstate projects; Silence, The LatTer, and Lasher 13, as well as having guested vocals with other artists, Go Man Go, and Jason Bontharon.

Remaining close to the multiple influences of urban music, Stauss combines a love of afro, world, and motown beats in poly-rhythmic bases which in part, make up tracks on Crows and Doves. These songs are written on a laptop, with Garageband as a tablet. She is a "musical typist" but mixes live guitar into the songs as well. Crows and Doves was mastered by noted sound engineer Larry Alexander (Bowie, Sisters of Mercy, Devo). Rabbit Velvet embodies much of the soul of self empowered music "business" of the 21st century.

The album has been engineered, produced and promoted all by the artist. Stauss is also a visual artist - All band art: cd covers, sites, video, t-shirts, and poster are singularly hand made. Furthering the visual representation of Rabbit Velvet, "Crows and Doves" has hand affected, numbered and signed giclee' covers. Rabbit Velvet currently plays interpretations of songs on Crows/Doves with solo electric guitar.
