Rúzsa Magdi (full name: Rúzsa Magdolna) was born in 1985 in Kishegyes, Serbia. Originally a gynecologist / maternity nurse she was discovered in the Hungarian TV show Megasztár, a local version of American Idol. Blowing away the judges with her natural talent she made it all the way to the top to become the 2006 winner of the show. She released her debut album titled Ördögi Angyal (literal translation: Diabolical Angel) under the name Rúzsa Magdi. With the title she wanted to express her ambiguity: the diabolic Magdi sings the fast-paced rock tracks while her angelic self shines through the more emotional lyrical songs.

The album features tracks composed by the most acknowledged contemporary Hungarian songwriters. Ördögi Angyal was one of the most anticipated albums of winter 2006. Rúzsa Magdi won the Best New Artist award at the Fonogram Hungarian Music Awards in February 2007 by televoting. The award also granted her a ticket to Helsinki, to compete for Hungary in the Eurovision Song Contest. She will sing Unsubstantial Blues, an English translation of her first single from the Ördögi Angyal album.
