The band (http://www.qypthone.com, Label: http://www.happiniess-records.com) consists of Takeshi Nakatsuka (mastermind, DJ), Kentaroh Ishigaki (bassist) and the singer and jazz piano player Izumi Ookawara. The band used to appear on stage with Pizzicato Five and is working with landmark Japanese producers like Yasuharu Konishi (Readymade Records), Mansfield, Fantastic Plastic Machine, Tetsuo Sunaga and Nori Ikeda. Qypthone isn't only a synonym for sunny mood, but also a spacy interest in science: The band's name is a Japanese word play on the name "Kip Thorne", a contemporary scientist who is occupied with constructing a time machine. Qypthone is being pronounced "Kip-thone". Luc Besson chose a track made of computer game sound samples by Qypthone for his movie "Wasabi". Qypthone have so far released four albums, and a single on vinyl on the Japanese Market (see http://www.happiness-records.com). Read more on Last.fm.
