Quit Your Life

Although Quit Your Life is no longer together, they had a nice time running the downriver scene. Detroit is one of the most brutal places in the United States. With killer winters and violence being prevalent both within its borders and in the region, this is the place where people rise to the top or are forced back down into mediocrity. Although Quit Your Life is no longer together, they had a nice time running the downriver scene. Detroit is one of the most brutal places in the United States. With killer winters and violence being prevalent both within its borders and in the region, this is the place where people rise to the top or are forced back down into mediocrity. So to anyone that's heard them, it should be no surprise that Quit Your Life calls Detroit home. The band popped into the consciousness of the Detroit scene just about three years ago. At last count, there had been a little over four hundred QYL shows, where they shared the stage with bands like My Chemical Romance, The Exit, Beloved, Fordirelifesake, Alexisonfire, Remembering Never, and Small Brown Bike. They've also been seen with It's All Gone To Hell, Guff, Thought Riot, The Cost and The Ghost.

And yet, playing with bands that are making waves on a national scale, what people always are talking about afterwards is the Quit Your Life show. After dominating the Michigan/Ohio/Windsor region, the band has gone through no less than three different vans. Any attempt to take the music to a wider audience has been met with a sputter and a dying motor. But a new van is coming and Quit Your Life is preparing to take their blistering sets to all corners of the country. Each chord, every beat is more relentless than the last. It doesn't take long for anyone to hear that Quit Your Life is putting all the pieces together to become the best band there is.

With the addition of a new guitarist in the past few months, the songs are taking on another dimension; songs like "Like It Or Not, This is The Way We Live" harken back to older hardcore and punk for the foundation while building on it with a flourish of screamo here and metal there. The experiments in the QYL lab are becoming increasingly volatile with every step taken. That which is coming out of Detroit is music made not just for the people of Detroit, but for anyone, anywhere who understands what it is to be in a basement with a hundred other kids, or at a hall with a thousand, and feel a personal connection with each one of them just from the music. This is the same bond that Quit Your Life has in itself, and with its fans - the love of music, the love of playing shows and making new friends. Quit Your Life already loves you.

And when you hear them, you will love them too. (From: http://myspace.com/quityourlife) Also, check out: http://purevolume.com/quityourlife http://www.quityourlife.com Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply..
