Puspa Dewi, a traditional Balinese dancer and performer, comes from Gianyar, the art center of Bali. She graduated from the Indonesian Institute for the Arts in Denpasar, where she studied traditional and contemporary Arts and Dance. After receiving numerous local awards in Bali and Indonesia for her performances of traditional Balinese dance, she toured major international dance festivals throughout India, Malaysia, Taiwan, Germany and Japan. Puspa Dewi's creative journey now continues with music; taking her passion for movement into the recording studio with currently three albums available on the market. All albums have been produced by Puspa's friend and mentor Kevin Bird, a San Francisco based film maker and composer, who carefully and patiently guided her over the last few years throughout an amazing transition from Balinese dancer to World music vocalist and performer. In January 2010, she released the traditional Balinese folk song album "Bird and Flower" and in July 2010, Puspa Dewi added her second album "Secret Wish", a World pop album with tracks ranging from charming Indonesian pop ballads and heartfelt renditions of traditional ethnic materials to cool funky World fusion songs and catchy international dance tracks. An additional Remix album "Someday (Remixes)" is available exclusively through online MP3 stores. As to the sound palette of the debut album "Bird and Flower"... imagine classic Balinese folk and children songs like "Putri Cening Ayu" with beautiful melancholic piano and string arrangement, "Macepatan" with haunting African grooves and choirs, "Pulsinoge" interpreted as a laid back Bossa Nova, "Jenggot Uban" in joyful South Pacific Island tradition, and the beloved "Meong Meong" as a cool and soothing New York style jazz tune. Additionally, the album also features beautiful instrumental piano pieces written by producer Kevin Bird, newly arranged and performed by pianist Henry Adam Curtis.
