There’s a very good reason why Purple Sneakers is known as one of the countries most popular indie clubs, the reason for the awesome house party atmosphere and packed out crowds in a variety of different cities. And that’s the Purple Sneakers DJs (PSDJs). Born from the womb of this iconic indie club the Purple Sneakers DJs mix guitar-based indie tracks into dancefloor destroying bombs and prove that just because you play indie you don’t have to suck as a DJ – as dance music authority InTheMix puts it “those Purple Sneakers cats can really fucking mix!”. While the Purple Sneakers DJs wear their indie hearts on their sleeve they’re more than capable at grabbing other genres by the balls and smashing them into a million indie sized pieces. Their boundary-pushing dance-floor bombs mean you can expect to hear Ou Est Le Swimming Pool mixed with Beach House, Active Child mashed up with The Soft Pack, and Local Natives, Cloud Control, Caribou & Two Door Cinema Club all smashed in together. The musical prowess of Purple Sneakers DJs is reaching out to more people than ever before with the recent release of their second ‘We Mix You Dance’ 2CD compilation. Expertly selected and mixed it follows on from the nationwide success of Volume 1; featuring 46 tracks from the brightest local and international indie artists including Little Red, Deerhunter, Tame Impala, Flight Facilities, Darwin Deez, The National, LCD Soundsystem and Sleigh Bells. Their stylistic flexibility has been demonstrated via the numerous support slots and festivals they’ve played (or slayed).

Between them Purple Sneakers DJs have played with Vampire Weekend Grizzly Bear, Ratatat, Sleigh Bells, Miike Snow, Bloc Party, La Roux, The Rapture, The Kills, DJ AM and Chk Chk Chk. PhDJ consistently tours internationally. And never ones to shy away from the great outdoors PSDJs have graced the stages at festivals like Field Day, Big Day Out, Splendour In the Grass, Falls Festival, Good Vibrations, Parklife national tour and plenty more to rave reviews. ‘We Mix You Dance Vol 2’ Reviews: The Dwarf - The tracks on We Mix, You Dance Vol.2 are not just perfect for a Summer party atmosphere, but has that unique quality that will take it easily through to the next season of listening. Faster Louder - There truly is something for everyone and The Purple Sneakers DJs should be congratulated once again for proving themselves worthy of the popularity and attention they’ve attained. Watchoutfor.com - From the likes of acclaimed traditional Indie-rock favourites all the way through to the more dancefloor inclined rhythms this record doesn’t miss a beat. Read more on Last.fm.
