Psysymetrix

PsySymetrix (aka. Nicholas Wharton )first discovered Psy-Trance back in 1996 when he picked up the "Trip Through Sound" album in a small out of the way CD shop in Johannesburg, South Africa. Little did he know that that CD was to change his life and set him on a quest for more of this amazing and intelligent music style. Climbing off the school bus, he would go straight into the local record shop (BPM Records) and spend his afternoons driving Arno from FlyHouse mad with his endless questions and never ending hunt for more music. Climbing off the school bus, he would go straight into the local record shop (BPM Records) and spend his afternoons driving Arno from FlyHouse mad with his endless questions and never ending hunt for more music....

Over the years he drew inspiration from the likes of Juno Reactor, GMS, Wizzy Noise & Hux Flux to name but a few. In 2004, and after completing a sound engineering course a few years earlier, he decided it was time to start being more than just a party animal, and started producing under the PsySymetrix banner. Since then he has refined his sound to what can today be discribed as Minimal, yet complex, Atmospheric and Dark and is still evolving and learning new tricks. In September 2007, he played his first Live set after starting production on it mid way through that year.

He has since played at numerous parties on the local scene and is continually pushing new frontiers and evolving the set with new and more current productions. In Feb 2008 he had his first release with the tune "Midnight Twilight", on the Bundu Bashers compilation album from Amoeba Records. He was approached in the later part of 2008 by Yucatech Recordings for his track "Fungus on my Tongue" as well as for a remix by his long time mentor, "MPI Project". He has now teamed up with fellow South African DJ and producer, PARALLAX, to form the group known as Syzygy, and together they have been ripping up the dance floors of the local Psy scene for close on a year now..
