Psycho sun

The story of Psychosun began in Salento, Italy back in 1994. They were four friends with a lot of willingness, a lot of attitude, but little skill. A few months and a few chords later they put out a lot of songs, including two demos. Extra Sugar Coffee (1995), and Sugar Candy (1996), were a mix of punk, noise, and rock. In 1997 Psychsun recorded the album Ever Ready for the new Salentine music label Magenta Records. The album received good reviews and the band toured Italy. Read more on Last.fm

In 1998 Magenta Records closed down, so Psychosun began to produce their own records. In 2000 the single "Psychosun" came out.

In 2001 Psychosun's music arrived in England by the new music label "Nopassingphase", from London. The new mini-cd Super Vixen, edited by CoolClub and distributed only in England, was testimony that the band's sound closely resembled that of the Hives, and International Noise Conspiracy. The CD was followed by a mini tour of England. The song "supevixen" was included in the garage punk compilation SNAPS released in the U.S.A..

You can tell however that in their music the band likes to play around with rock and roll and that they take inspiration from different types of music from the past: Television, Cure, Clash Nomads. However there is also another face to Psychosun, one that is intimate and romantic. Slow songs are steeped with English pop and American Indie music. An alternation of tones and different musical atmospheres will be the ingredients of the new studio album by the band, which will be out in the autumn of 2005, and will be produced by Urtovox.

In recent months the band took part in the making of the short film "Fumo", directed by the Salentine director Ippolito Chiarello. The band made the soundtrack, as well as acted in the movie. "Fumo", was presented at the 2005 Los Angeles Italian Film Festival, and at the Bellaria Festival, near Rimini. This short film will become a full feature length film in 2006.
