In 2003 Raymond Rivera aka “Gadget” joined the crew, another pioneer but this time in the electronic genre. They edit under the Mushroom Demo Tapes label which originally released Lester Mon's early Lo-Fi work. The band is considered one of the premier independent offerings of Puerto Rico and for years has contributed to the development of a true "underground scene" in the country. They are considered the Island's first cult band thanks in part to their shows which mix the performance with the event image projections and psychedelia.
Their sporadic live appearances serve as meeting place for people with common interests, which look to navigate rhythms in order to harmonize the interior and exterior space. Each distinctive song reaffirms the human condition as well as life's "extra human" experience. The images projected during the performance represent humanity's search for expansive thought and include everything from psychedelic artwork to mythological concepts of a distorted reality and universal history. At each performance the group gives away trinkets with the Psiconautas logo and a phrase or image that symbolizes the experience of witnessing a unique presentation. With this , the band has begun a tradition of creating a unique and distinctive atmosphere and a special musical experience with each show. German writer Ernest Junger described as psiconautas (psychonauts) those who navigate the conscience or the soul.
Presently this term is used an extrasensory and metaphysical search. In other words a mental exploration to connect the external and internal worlds. "Del Cielo a la Tierra" is the defining motto of Psiconautas a band who takes its name to suggest this search to the listener. With their music they present a style that is not limited to preconceived genres.
As such their work cannot be defined or explained, it must be experienced. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply..
