Prins Nitram

Album RELEASED ON WHITEOUT MUSIC - MARCH 31, 2008. That Prins Nitram is a unique artist becomes immediately apparent upon hearing this debut album, which is in fine keeping with, and at least as peculiar, self-aware and totally surprising as His Royal Oddness himself. On Bomty Bomty Prins Nitram combines genre and traditions in his own particular way, as can also be heard on the single ”Breaking Through My Peel” that is receiving airplay on the Danish Radio P3 program. Blachman and Gorillaz’ Bass Player A lot has happened for Prins Nitram since his days on the open road. In spite of his habit of performing as a one-man band and playing almost all instruments himself, there is room enough here for some other competent musicians to share in the fun. Which is why we find the ever-acute Thomas Blachman (Page One) on the title number, Bomty Bomty.

Also delivering an exceptional performance on several tracks is British producer and Gorillaz bassist Al Mobbs, who the Prince met through a mutual friend at a party. The combined effect is the creation of a fantastic richness of detail in the musical underscoring of all ten numbers. Electric and Magnetic “The contrast of coolness and warmth goes hand in hand through the songs, and the result is an almost electric atmosphere as the two fronts meet. A storm is on the way. Electric and magnetic.” This is how journalist Sune Holm Pedersen describes his meeting with the new, gold-plated Prins Nitram musical enterprise.

The project consists of Prins Nitram’s alter ego – one man who fills all the roles on the track list. In the words of the royal gentleman himself, it all came about when “the band didn’t show up for rehearsal”, and Prins Nitram realized he could actually handle all the instruments himself - and at the same time, besides! Prins Nitram’s Clones Any doubts as to whether Prins Nitram is a unique phenomenon on the Danish rock scene quickly vanish when you experience him live. On stage he is accompanied by a band consisting of video-projected cloned versions of the Prince, which fill out the sound palette with everything from drums to xylophone. Prins Nitram’s exceptional talent for conducting himself and his clones gives the audience the feeling of intimate involvement with an exceptionally tight, good-sounding band.

Simply stated, here is an artist who provides space for autonomy and playfulness, yet leaves nothing to chance. http://www.prinsnitram.dk/ Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply..
