Established in 1987 in Novi Sad, Serbia, former SFR Yugoslavia, rock band Ponoćni Kauboj (Midnight Cowboy) started the career with live performances in Novi Sad. Soon entering the studio “Ambient 94” where recorded the three songs, among which the song "Moon" was distinguished by its quality, and soon reached the first place of the demo charts show Ritam Srca (Rhythm of the Heart) of Radio Belgrade. In May 1988, the band entered the studio again, this time in Studio 1 at Radio Novi Sad, where with the help of Ivica Vlatković and sound engineer Jan Šaš recorded songs Korak Po Korak (Step by Step), and Ja Polako Nestajem (I'm vanishing slowly). The song Korak Po Korak became a hit on radio "Belgrade 202", where it reaches the top of the chart and it achieved the greatest success on the radio "Studio B" where it ranked in the first place.

The same song took tenth place on the annual chart as the only demo in the first 20. The band appeared on the popular TV show Hit Meseca (Hit of the Month) of RTV Belgrade. At the beginning of 1989, the band recorded the seven compositions, and later that year performed at the very influential Youth Festival in Subotica. Ponoćni Kauboj was disbanded in June 1990.

In September 2008, the band reunited again and in April next year they entered the Studio 1 at Radio Novi Sad. During April and May the band recorded twelve songs. Material includes four new and eight of old but rearranged compositions. Although the songs were created over a long period of time and under different musical influences, recorded material sounds stylistically even, bringing the atmosphere and the distinctive sound of which Ponoćni Kauboj was known for.
