Pocket Promise are an exciting multi-instrumental four piece based in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Pocket Promise use guitars, pianos, keyboards and beat machines to capture a natural sound with twisting melodies and changes of pace and dynamic. Their style ranges from string accompanied haunting arrangements with layered vocals through to riff driven songs with infectious, overpowering choruses. Lyrics bring to mind images of heartache and fragility with carefree consequence and melancholic metaphor in equal measure. Pocket Promise's debut release was a five track ep entitled 'WAVING AT STRANGERS' (February 2008). The ep was widely lauded on its release.

A laidback, low lit, melodic affair, the tracks were taken from a 15 track recording session produced by David Odlum (Glen Hansard, The Frames, Gemma Hayes, Redneck Manifesto, David Kitt, Josh Ritter) and recorded in Blackbox Studios, France (The Last Shadow Puppets, Archie Bronson Outfit) in Summer 2007. The remainder of the tracks comprise the forthcoming album release 'I've been here for ages' which will be available to download from iTunes and all major download sites on 3rd August 2009. Pocket Promise released their debut single - 'i burnt the roller disco' in April 2009. The single, which has been widely recognised as an energetic alternative to previous releases, showcases the band at their pop melody best! Their most recent release is their double A-Side 'talkovertalking | If not, the tide will change' (June 2009) - This release possibly best displaying the different sides of Pocket Promise at each end of the spectrum. The opening track follows in the footsteps of 'i burnt the roller disco', tearing a path of sing along, driving melody.

The closing track, at times, choosing the lower end of the volume scale but contrasting this sharply with the overpowering depth and size of piano, guitar, bass and drums combined. A number of tracks from each release can be listened to via the links on this page or via http://www.myspace.com/pocketpromise All tracks are available to purchase from iTunes, Napster, Amazon MP3 and other major download sites. Physical copies are available at request via myspace link. The band have enjoyed success this year in the form of radio play and live sessions throughout the UK and Ireland including plays on BBC Radio One, BBC Radio Ulster, Phantom FM and 2FM. Pocket Promise will be touring throughout the UK and Ireland in August 2009 in support of their debut album. What they said about Waving at Strangers: "...Boy, it's an accomplished release. Warm and heartfelt, something very pleasant indeed." State Magazine, www.state.ie "I got the EP and listened to it twice straight because I liked it so much!..." Dan Hegarty 2FM "I absolutely love the EP!..." Rory McConnell, BBC Radio One "well crafted brooding indie guitar swing with piano trimmings that sounds not unlike something The National might come up with only with a melodic Northern Irish accent at the mic..." David Roy, Irish News "... a five track strong EP which is an intriguing voyage through emotion and genre...

full of melodic metaphors... introspective and elating." Big List Magazine, Belfast "Pocket Promise are one of the hardest working groups around" Irish Daily Star On 'i burnt the roller disco': ‘If you happen to hear a blast of perfect indie rock blasting out of your radio in the next couple of months, chances are it is Pocket Promise.’ Donna Legge, Go!
