In spite of the bittersweet overtone in her lyrics, the positive drive prevails. Very convincing are also the energy of bass playing stage-animal Vincent van Haperen and groove-monster Jim Geurts on drums. And it’s always “cincere and personal”, as music mag LiveXS wrote. Debut album “Wise and Ugly”, to be released in November 2009, does justice to Pitch Blond’s live reputation. But the band, that got known as a punky rock trio, takes their sound to another level.
Without losing their identity and intensity, Pitch Blond uses a multitude of influences. One can now hear acoustic instruments too, as well as horns, piano and samples. Also for the live shows, surprises are to be expected, making a night with Pitch Blond much more than just a rock show. Pitch Blond received raving reviews for their live shows and their first EP “Pitch Blond” in music magazines as LiveXS, Fret and 3voor12. They played as “local hero” in Paradiso Amsterdam and on festivals as Zwarte Cross, Vlietpop and Popzaterdag.
Also they supported The Breeders in a full house Melkweg in Amsterdam. Recently they got airplay for their single Sun Scream by radio station 3FM after they played there live a couple of times.
