Return to Novi Sad and Belgrade where they were studying, often used for gathering and the final entry in Studio M in Novi Sad. Popaj invited his brother Nikola who was 16 years old to sang then Mladen and Mane, and so it began. Band name Perper was given by an old friend and local bands singer Mićko Marović. Name they were looking for should have been soon remembered and recognized as a symbol.
Before Perper, all members played in one of the local bands but allways missed one member for a complete band. By forming Perper, looking at the old photos, they figured out that they all previously played together, but under different band names. Those were amateur bands playing several original but mostly covernig other compositions at the school and city parties. First major appearance under the name Perper was on the TV show in November 1991 with a song "Mir Kao Peto Godišnje Doba" (Eglish: "Peace as a Fifth Temperate Season").It was an anti-war song, which, due to strong war affection, wasn't accepted very well but led to more serious work.
At the end of December in Novi Sad they recorded first album "Sa Gomile Velikih Oblaka" (Eglish: "From The Bunch of Big Clouds"). Since 1992 until now ,band held over 1000 concerts all over Montenegro and Serbia. On one of the concerts was recorded as first unplugged (sound and video) on the territory of Montenegro. Concert was held in the Montenegrin National Theater in year 2000 later released as an album and after 2 years re-released their best-selling album.
Perper had guests: Vladan Popović Pop - percussion, Vjera Nikolic and Biljana Mitrović - backing vocals, string quartet Montepiano (Igor Perazić, Vili Ferdinandi, Kristina Kristina Hadži Dinić, Dragutin Pavlović Guta), Vida Cvijetić - piano, the orchestra of Šukrija Žuti Serhatlić. The repertoire of the concerts included at first several cover songs from beloved bands but later only original songs. Perper has performed at lots of festivals, starting from the last "Jugovizija 92" in Belgrade, and through Mesam (2 times), Pjesma Mediterana (5 times), Sunčane Skale (6 times), mostly becouse that was the only way for musicians from Montenegro to present their work. Festivals were the place where widest audience could meet with the band.
The band played on the all important concerts and festivals, which are maintained in Montenegro, with occasional trips to Serbia. Despite frequent invitations from Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia, due to post - war events they did not make any appearance in this part of the Balkans.Since 1991 to middle of 1995 rhythm guitar was played by Mladen Brajović, successfully replaced by keyboardist Mihajlo Ražnatović Mićo. Mladen left the band due to start his own business and family obligations. Great friend of the band to the present day.
