For more than seven years pegtop created music using honesty, craftsmanship, simplicity, and faith. In that time tens of thousands of people of all ages have experienced and enjoyed pegtop. Armed with only an acoustic guitar, a bass and a unique drumset made up of a wooden box, a miniature snare drum, and a small stand of percussion, this trio performed more than 500 times. Their unique sound and an uncompromising heart for ministry made them a great band for almost any event. Pegtop was formed in 1994 when drummer Terry Steinmeyer asked his long time friend David Peightal (award winning guitarist, singer songwriter) if he could use some back-up. Since that time pegtop has performed at venues ranging from big clubs, to small coffeehouses, and from large festivals to Sunday morning church services.

You may even see pegtop from time to time playing with battery power on a street corner. Some performance highlights include • Sonshine Festivals from 1995-2001 • Cornerstone '96, '97, & '98 and 2001 • Everyone’s Fest 1999-2001 • Several shows at The New Earth Coffee House, Kansas City, MO • The New Union, Mpls • The Fine Line Music Cafe, Mpls • The Coffee Shock, St. Paul • The Cup of Joy, Green Bay • More than a dozen appearances at The Minnesota State Fair, including a live on-air interview / performance on the Joe Soucheray Show (Garage Logic live from The Fair) • Concerts at hundreds of churches including Woodland Hills Church, Church of the Open Door, & Maranatha A.G. • several performances at jails, and prisons; • street corner shows all over the Midwest, including at Promise Keepers '96 & '97 as well as The Billy Graham Crusade '96. After releasing their debut CD "just us" in '95, pegtop made some changes when they introduced the very talented Matt Patrick (bass, vocals, and just about any instrument he decides to play) who added a new dimension with his vocal harmonies. In March of '97 pegtop released "The Great Reverse" and sold almost 3000 copies in that year. This CD was unique not only because of the homemade drums used to record it, but because it was primarily recorded in Terry's garage.

Three more CDs followed; “The Gift”, a Christmas CD, “run, run”, and “5Live”, a light hearted recording captured at The Coffee Shock, a Twin Cities coffeehouse. In late 2000, pegtop headed back to Third Ear Studios to record drum tracks for their sixth release, Counting Tree. Combining the studio recorded drum parts with other tracks recorded at Matt’s new home studio, the album was released in June of 2001. Pegtop's mission was always the same. To make creative music that honestly communicated their life experiences and their passion to live for Jesus Christ. Then, to bring their music to as many people as they could in hopes that those people will experience God's healing.

Their simple approach to music and ministry demonstrated the simplicity of the gospel. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply..
