Passo Uno

The musical project “Passo Uno” comes to life at the beginning of 2005 from an idea by Stefano de Ponti (guitars), Alessandro Bider (wind instruments and cello) and Andrea Avolio (drums). Blending such influences as post-rock, ambient and some minimal jazz, the trio delivers instrumental hypnotic soundscapes. The first releases by Passo Uno are the soundtracks for the documentaries “Presenze” (CDr – 2005) and “Il Passato Riemerso” (CD – 2006), both issued by the independent label Trazeroeuno.org. Reviews for these soundtracks are very positive, pointing out the originality of the compositions and the ability of the group to create a very fascinating atmosphere. From 2005 to 2007 Passo Uno perform live in community centres and cultural associations in Milan, among which PIM Spazio Scenico (theatre), c.c. Leoncavallo and c.c. Baraonda, playing pieces from their albums as well as improvisations.

In January 2007 Andrea Avolio leaves the band and, with the arrival of Lucio Mondini (bass) and Marco Capra (drums), Passo Uno compose an original soundtrack for the silent movie “Tartuffe” by F.W. Murnau (1924). On April 13, 2007, Passo Uno's “Tartuffe” becomes the opening performance for the short silent movies festival “Una Cura di Sane Anticaglie” held in ScaloDieci (cultural association). Between 2007 and 2008, “Tartuffe” is performed on different occasions, such as in La Scheggia (cultural association) during the second edition of “Una Cura di Sane Anticaglie”, an event promoted and financed by the Municipality of Milan. The Biko Club in Milan hosts another acclaimed live performance of “Tartuffe”, with the participation of Xabier Iriondo (Afterhours' ex-guitarist) as a special guest. From June to July 2008 Passo Uno record the soundtrack for “Tartuffe” at Noise Factory Recording Studio in Milan, thus releasing their third work so far.
