Paolo Favati is connected (as a musician and as a producer) to important names of the italian indipendent scene from '80s till now like: Neon, Diaframma, Pankow, Limbo, Templebeat, L.I.N., Die Larm, Wave Workers Foundation, Death SS, Meathead/Here or other most important artists like CCCP/CSI, Gianni Maroccolo, Irene Grandi, Marlene Kuntz, Simply Red. Favati also made remixes and collaborated with well-known international artists of the industrial scene like Killing Joke, Dive, Lassigue Bendthaus, Clock DVA, Attrition, Swamp Terrorists, Gareth Jones (producer of Depeche Mode, Erasure, Einsturzende Neubauten), Paul Kendall (producer of Nitzer Ebb or Alan Wilder's Recoil), Roli Mosimann (ex-Swans, Ex-Wiseblood, ex-Young Gods), Adrian Sherwood (producer of ON-Usound and artists like Depeche Mode, Cabaret Voltaire, Ministry, Nine Inch Nails, Skinny Puppy). Paolo Favati was born in Florence in 1963 and started playing bass and guitar in 1979 in local bands of Florence, than he started playing keyboards in 1982 and than synth and computer in 1985, year in which he started his first solo-project Paul Ray. From 1982 since 1985 he worked as sound engineer at Studio Emme in Florence, also collaboratin' with important italian bands such as Neon and Diaframma.

In 1984 Paul Ray registered Doin' The Best I Can (12''-Polygram) as a composer, musician and solo-singer. But after this experience with a major he discovered indipendent music and abandoned dance music for entering in Pankow as composer and musician. Pankow is a famous band which influenced other electronical, industrial and EBM projects during '80s and '90s. From 1986 since 1990 he worked as artistic director and production responsible for italian labels like Contempo Records and Abraxas, while in the next five years he made the same work but for Sub/Mission label.

In 1990 he opened is own studio in Florence, the Blue Velvet Studio, and so he had the possibility of producing is own works and works of other bands in an indipendent way. This took him to found in 1992 his own label called Dune Records, and he started to be interested in international productions that permitted to open a branch in the heart of New York. In 1992 he started a collaboration with Templebeat, a famous italian electro/crossover band, in which Favati created song's lyrics and was responsible for the production. In 1997 he started a new collaboration with Gianni Maroccolo of CPI (Consorzio Produttori Indipendenti) that will become Sonica Factory. In the same year he founded Wave Workers Foundation (WWF), and he produced its first record In The Whirlpool, with the IDM style (Intelligent Dance Music). Meanwhile he was doing an inquiry about comunication.

At the beginning of Internet he created a web site called M.I.o.S.P. (Musical Industry of Sound Processing), to make a easier communication between operators of indipendent music. This became a big database and most of the important webzine decided to transfer into it their news, rewievs, interwievs. Between 1999 and 2000 he became production director of Digimusic Magazine Music Mall, an innovative experience of management and production of live events for the web connected to theatre, music and dance.

In 2002 he started a new personal project, the "Sensori emotivi", in which he composed and played in total freedom his live music, creating not normal lives but Musical Actions with live video performances (with the collaboration of the videomaker Isa Panero) that mixed themselves with sounds. He started also a collaboration with Produzioni a Rischio (videomakers, photographers, film-makers) composing music for soundtracks and pictures. At the end of 2002 he also collaborated with Irene Grandi, in fact he's responsible for the arrangements and the production of her last album Prima di Partire. During 2003 he followed the birth of DigiChannel.Net (The New Art Indipendent Network) and of web sites such as DigiMovies.net and DigiBroadcast.net dedicated to arts and show business.
