Owl: Stoner Punk/Metal out of Oakland, California rocking like it’s 1971. Biographies are listed below: 1) Owl is a death metal project by Christian Kolf (Island, Valborg, Woburn House, Slon, Faser). http://www.facebook.com/owlzg 2) Owl is a collaboration between bassist Chris Wyse, his longtime pal, drummer Dan Dinsmore, and guitarist Jason Achilles Mezilis. Currently the bassist for The Cult, Wyse has performed with a who's-who of rock's elite, including one-time roommate Jerry Cantrell, Camp Freddy, producer Bob Rock, Lusk's Chris Pittman (now in Guns N' Roses), Tal Bachman and as one-half of Ozzy Osbourne's rhythm section alongside ex-Faith No More drummer Mike Bordin Featuring Wyse's patented stand-up bass, unique bowing style and on-stage intensity, Owl is a labor of love, which has now come to fruition. With Dinsmore, Wyse's high school classmate and former bandmate from his hometown in NY, and guitarist Jason Achilles Mezilis, Owl is finally perched for take-off. 3) Originally started as a bedroom recording project between Vanessa Murnaghan and Matthew Macdonald (The Superfantastics) in August 2008, Owl quickly made their way onto internet music blogs, into rotation at indie dance nights, and onto the stage. The duo’s debut album, Chants (The Vibrations in the Streets Keep Me Weak in the Knees), is a seven-song EP that combines equal parts MGMT and The Postal Service with Macdonald’s own electronic arrangements and Murnaghan’s warm melodies and laid back delivery. Subtle, eclectic and earnest, The Coast has heralded Owl’s songs for featuring “a quiet underbelly of synth and threads of guitar, while Murnaghan’s low, sweet voice sings about friends and lovers.” 4) Owl: Stoner Punk/Metal out of Oakland, California rocking like it's 1971.
