Once and Future Kings

Once and Future Kings is the name of an American alternative rock band from Raleigh, North Carolina. Once and Future Kings blend hook-laden, anthemic rock with a twist of dystopian lyricism. They are often compared to Radiohead, The Flaming Lips, Muse, Cold War Kids (and others), with nods to 60's rock. Still, there is something distinctly original about this act that tingles the tip of the tongue. Originally founded in Nashville, TN by vocalist/songwriter Jess Edison Read more on Last.fm
Originally founded in Nashville, TN by vocalist/songwriter Jess Edison, vocalist/keys player Justin Henderson, and drummer Jason Hutchings, the lineup has taken a few forms over the years.

Their debut EP, Emergent Sea, was recorded with Jess Edison, Justin Henderson, Jason Hutchings, and Josh Petty on bass. Notably, David Banuelos took the bass reigns beginning in late 2007. In the summer of 2008, the band went on hiatus. During the one year hiatus, Jess Edison continued his songwriting and jumpstarted Once and Future Kings in the summer of 2009. For the future, OFK has a number of exciting shows around the Triangle.

They plan to “run the bases" this fall, playing Durham, Raleigh, and Chapel Hill equally. Dual CD releases are planned for Raleigh and Chapel Hill in October--the band will set the Emergent Sea dove free for the Triangle to see. Also, a special Halloween show is planned for Durham at Broad Street Cafe. In the winter, Once and Future Kings will travel west to Asheville, Knoxville, Nashville, and in between.

Recording for a new record is expected to follow, with a release date in summer 2010 and a northernly summer tour (The Somewhere Summer) as far as Montreal. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply..
