ND have gathered in 1983 to play the remarkable music inspired by creativity of such politized British groups as The Clash, The Redskins, Angelic Upstarts, The Ruts, various 2-Tone and reggae collectives of the early 80th. Guys named the group after The Stranglers song "Nuclear Device" from the '79 album. The first official release "45 Revolutions Par Minute" they had published on Bondage Records (a label based by Bérurier Noir manager). In 1986 with the help of the same Bondage Records the group releases their first full-length record "Tonnerre A La Une".

In 1987 they have recorded two songs for a soundtrack to the "Desperate" western which were published in March of the same year on seven inches. Approximately from then their creativity starts to feel influence of latino music and Spanish, Italian and Latin American anti-fascist guerrillas' and revolutionaries' folklore. It is necessary to notice that Nuclear Device lyrics contain the most powerful sociopolitical message. On the concerts group was constantly supported by Red Warriors, Ducky Boys and other leftist and antiracist street gangs.
