Conceived in London at the dawn of 2005, NO HOPE ASTRONAUT have continued to stare down the countless ‘The’ bands of this world to produce music and performances worthy of the applause and accolades they have received to date. In June 2008 No Hope Astronaut were UK Finalists of the Emergenza Worldwide Battle of the Bands held at the University of London Union (ULU). NHA wowed the crowds along the way and finished 2nd place overall, also picking up the competition’s best bassist award. This performance cemented their place amongst the top unsigned bands in the UK today. The release of their debut E.P. ‘The Things You Build’ in July 2007 on the band’s own Bigfeatz Records label, was met with a great reception from fans and industry alike.

Mixed and engineered by Mark 'Eddie' Edwards (Reuben, Dykeenies, The Conway Story) and Mastered at Abbey Road Studios by Christian Wright (Graham Coxon, Hot Chip, Six Star Hotel), the reviews flooded in… KERRANG! said in their review… “Angular guitars and quirky melodies that manage to be not only interestingly off-kilter, but also bizarrely hooky” Well respected underground zine SUBBA-CULCHA.COM pronounced… “…. NHA brim with malice and a song is akin to a full armoured attack - all consuming and edge of your seat thrilling throughout. Stunning work…” And a glowing 8/10 review in ROCKSOUND… "Something huge in the making, No Hope Astronaut's debut EP is music to be proud of. This band are seeping at the seams with qualities that can only transform them into true British emo pioneers..." Originally a four-piece, No Hope Astronaut are back with a slimmed down three-man line up as former guitarist Neil Stephenson moves behind the kit.

The band is completed by Joe Dowling on vocals/guitar with Dave Ferguson on bass/vocals, and with their song ‘The Things You Build’ hitting the top 10 in the Garageband.com charts, and ‘The Last Day’ being placed in a new independent movie, the next 12 months should be an exciting time for the band. No Hope Astronaut have several tracks in pre-production and many more on the way, so look out for their eagerly awaited new release in early 2009.
