Ninja Vs. Pirate is a "shit-hop" band consisting of producers/MC's Awesome Gorgeous and Gorgeous Awesome. (http://www.myspace.com/ninjapiratethrowdown) Starting as an electronic noise/grindcore band, they quickly branched out into several other genres, including disco, dance punk, and their own style of hip-hop; "Shit hop". The term Shit-hop was first used jokingly to describe the band's style on a flyer for their first show.

As Ninja vs. Pirate recorded more songs in the shit-hop genre (Seals Equals Meals, WWW.estferris, Bannock! At The Disco, and The Magic Touch - later rerecorded by BCS), more shit-hop bands began to emerge; such as The Notorious VAG, West Nile Virus, OMOS, and most notably The Downsouth Haircuts. In 2006, only a year after the band came together, and only a few weeks after the release of their first album "For Those About to Suck Some Cock... We Salute You" (a compilation of most of their demo songs and first-takes recorded throughout the year), Ninja vs.

Pirate broke up; mainly over some giant bitch who pulled a Yoko Ono on NVP. Almost overnight, Awesome F, Gorgeous (formerly of Ninja Vs. Pirate.) founded Bad Catholic Schoolgirls with fellow shit-hop artist Special-T. BCS was strictly a "shit hop" band, unlike Ninja Vs.

Pirate, grindcore and noise songs and ambient breakdowns were almost entirely replaced by straight-up rap and hiphop songs. It was during the production of Barely Legal (BCS's first album) that Awesome F. Gorgeous became serious about producing music, scoring and building beats. In early 2008, Ninja Vs. Pirate announced their return and reopened their myspace page.

Their second album "Let's Get It Right The Second Time" is being released this summer. To mark their return to the top of the shit-hop shit-heap, they have made their first album available for download to all members of their facebook group. Read more on Last.fm.
