New. Manic. Spree. These three words were married in the pre-dawn aftermath of Australia’s Splendour In The Grass 2006. Birthed on a page of a red notebook during a moment of inspiration, guitarist Ed Hiew awoke to find a scrawled name that would soon encompass something larger than himself. Now in 2011, driven by energetic performances and music to match, New Manic Spree are set to embark on an Australian East Coast tour this July to promote their debut EP aptly entitled “Hollywoods and Galaxies”. Now in 2011, driven by energetic performances and music to match, New Manic Spree are set to embark on an Australian East Coast tour this July to promote their debut EP aptly entitled “Hollywoods and Galaxies”. “As heavy and grandiose as music goes, they’re pretty impressive – polished, creative and hugely energetic” - Simone Ubaldi, Beat Magazine, Melbourne Drawing on an array of influences ranging from bands such as Klaxons and Soulwax to composers like Debussy and Phillip Glass, New Manic Spree create a unique brand of music that is both progressive and infectious. Their first single 'LECK!E' placed them on stage with bands such as Numbers Radio, Neon, {ME}, Transport, Le Kingste and The Red Paintings, culminating in a tour of Melbourne in 2010 where they played to a full house at the Vineyard in St Kilda, left newfound air-guitarists at the Espy and inspired someone’s knee to dislocate in Fitzroy’s Birmingham Hotel.
