Highlights include being the only Christian act invited to perform at a Brixton Academy event, their live recording on R Music TV – with the broadcasts of ‘Sorry’ taking them to a new level - and GL Live, all of which have contributed to them gaining a reputation as an exciting collective. Individually honing their skills since early childhood, New Direction Crew each equally are an asset to the group. Very much multidimensional, versatility is their unique selling point and something they are renowned for. With the ability to flip the script with ease, from up-tempo to soulful tracks, their music comprises of meaningful lyrics against a backdrop of various styles, yet their signature sound is something they have named “rap ‘n’ keys”.
Being fluent in all genres also allows them to possess crossover appeal and they continue to set a high standard. An album release from New Direction Crew has been long in demand, yet they have been strategically taking their time to deliver the debut, which they are currently working on diligently. Three years in the making, it promises to be innovative and cutting-edge; aspiring to represent excellence in their music as well as their lifestyle, delivering a high quality product is priority. Entitled In The Saviour’s Shadow, it is due out soon and will feature some of the crème de la crème of UK urban Gospel artists, such as Jahaziel, G Kid, Verbswish, Jack Ellis, Mark Asari, and S.O.
Furthermore, the principle that the gift makes room has certainly been proved. New Direction Crew are independent, yet closely affiliated to Preacha Boy Music. They have also individually worked alongside other artists, in terms of writing and production, most recently participating on releases by UK heavyweights Jahaziel and Four Kornerz. Alongside the album, New Direction Crew are also so working on a collaborative project entitled ‘Represent Jesus’. This compilation track features some of the UK’s finest urban Gospel artists, including Guvna B, Triple O plus Once (G Force), and signifies a stand in unity. New Direction Crew’s vision goes beyond entertainment and is not just about music.
They possess a passion for outreach, aiming to be a positive influence, especially with youth, and be an alternative to the negativity depicted in the media. In addition, the group endeavour to create change in their community and have worked alongside their local council, also receiving an EBP (Education Business Partnership) award, in recognition for their contributions. It is their prayer to uplift and inspire people without compromising their message but boldly sharing their faith with the world, primarily utilising their gifts of music. Saving souls is their ultimate priority and they desire to be instrumental in helping to develop a legacy for future generations. Helping to drive forward a new movement in music, New Direction Crew have been going from strength to strength and are now fast becoming part of the Gospel establishment.
