Nesselsdorf

Nesselsdorf from Kopřivnice comprise four weirdos who combine strange electronic with harder alternative rock. The band started as a duo when Petr Sasín (Saska), enchanted by samplers and computers at the beginning of 1997, began to cooperate with singer Petr Chechelský, following the work of the previous project CyberApple (one track was released on compilation Jungle Is Massive). In autumn in the same year, guitarist Ondřej Zapletal, having played with Saska since 1988, joined Nesselsdorf after their common magic mushroom trip. At that time, quite a unique band was touring clubs successfully not only in the Czech Republic but also in Slovakia where the audience found them unprecedented and unheard. The band also performed with top Czech DJ´s and supported British legend Loop Guru. In spring 2000, Nesselsdorf participated in TV spot Paskvil where they played three songs.

As the time went by, the band and their promoter splitted, the result of which was less concerts. Fortunately, the band was not forgotten and Saska was asked by Karel Zpěváček, a young budding film director, to write a track for his film Brak. Finally, they chose You´re too striking, a song on the third demo CD. They were going to make a video, too – it was recorded but the result was unusable. Then, guitarist Ondra left for Ireland for a couple of years, which made the band a duo again.

That´s why Pavel Valerian Pohořelský, a guitarist from Nový Jičín and former noise formation Valerian´s Future´s leader, was asked to substitute. He was very pleased by the offer and accepted it. When Ondra came back, Nesselsdorf began to play in four and much harder. „I feel that we are doing our best currently,“ said Saska, the leader.

Their fans prove it. You can check out the new face of the band on sampler Autumn Harvest where track Kongo is in a new arrangement, which only confirms the ongoing development of songs. „We are tired of playing everything in the same way, life is a change,“ says Ondra. This year they are going to release their first official album with local label company Piper Records. Read more on Last.fm.
