The group appeared in The Source magazine's Unsigned Hype section in May 1995, where they were praised for adding "freshness to the one form of rap music that is criticized most for having songs that "all sound the same"", which they "accomplished primarily through their unique addition of singing" and "tight, well-delivered rhymes". Their debut release was the 1996 EP Straight Out the Nappy City, which featured the subtitle "from the album Noth'n but a Come-Up" suggesting the group were in the process of recording a full album which went unreleased. N.A.P. (New African Poets) are a hip hop group from Strasbourg, France. The members of the group are Mustapha, Bilal, Malik, Aïssa, Mohammed and Karim. Most of the group come from the Neuhof quartier of Strasbourg.
