Cover art was created by Wayne Bjerke, whose work has also graced the cover of The Dictator's DFFD album and many, many Yes and Jerry Garcia Band denim jackets. Formed out of necessity by Woody High (guitar/voices), MIGHTY HIGH existed as a band name, concept and denim jacket long before a single note of music was ever played. In fact, when Woody came up with the band name he couldn’t even play guitar. After years of bragging how great his band would be, his friends challenged him to put up or shut up.
Tommy Blow (bass), TJ Whippets (guitar) and Jesse D’Stills (drums) share Woody’s blurred vision for a total assault on our dull, sober society. Over the years MIGHTY HIGH have shared the stage with great bands such as The Saloonatics, Federale, Mess With The Bull, Puny Human, Sabbra Cadabra and The Black Hollies. Most notably, they are the only band to have ever played with both Thor and Valient Thorr. In October, 2007 MIGHTY HIGH had the honor of playing with Steve Mackay (of The Stooges) and his band The Blue Prostitutes.
After watching MIGHTY HIGH’s soundcheck Steve said “now that’s some real rock n roll!” There is no higher praise. (2) Tacoma, WA Dub group 'Mighty High': Mighty High started in November of 2008 in Tacoma, WA. Original members David Hickey, Dave Balaam and Trevor Nicely soon invited Tyler Pratt (of Weather) and Dave Hendrickson in June 2009. The band has a steady following in the northwest and enjoys playing many genres of music in their live sets.
Mainly influenced by blues rock and reggae- MH takes the plunge headfirst into rock/dub/reggae and swampy blues to embrace a live music experience that loosens some grooves and inspires the fans to dance. These guys will leave you moved at the end of their set without saying a word. After completing the bands first west coast tour in August 2010, Mighty High has continued to evolve in the northwest reggae scene as Tacoma's "brainchild for dub" music. Featuring special guests from around the PNW and rocking shows all over WA, OR and CA for organizations like NORML, Humboldt State University and the San Diego Marijuana Indoor Grow Show.
