She had been writing music for ages, but was determined not to perform with it until it was exactly the way she wanted it. When she finally started playing her music in public, it was after her third performance that she got offered a complete album recording in exchange for some concerts. The result is "Wonderbras & Petticoats", an album with seven songs written and performed by Merel. FRET magazine writes about "the natural appeal of Merel's music.

She grabs hold of you with the first few notes, or maybe even before that with the self-conscious, but charming way in which she takes a seat behind the piano and announces her songs.
