The group was formed in 1996 in Nizhny Novgorod. The first concert under the title «Mechanical Apfelsine» was performed on May 2, 1998, the date which became the counting point in group’s history. By that time, the group’s style could be portrayed as hard rap-core with social motives. In 1999, under the influence of a renowned German group the «Mechanical Apfelsine» records an album “Metro” which contains 9 original compositions in which such unordinary for that time tools were applied as computer and sequensors. At that time, the group becomes known for its numerous concerts all across Russia, including Moscow, Kazan and other large cities. In April 2003 the group issues a promo-single «Quite Unusual» containing a remake of same-title composition of Front 242.

In May 2004 a new promo-cdr «Seven Sins» was recorded, grounded in the traditions of synthpop/electroclash. In parallel the group started working on a new album to be released in fall 2005. Besides, the group keeps searching for a new name to reflect the drastically changed musical style. In October 2004 the group renames itself under the influence of the title of the «Camouflage» group album of 2004. By that time the group finalized seven original compositions, including the instrumental for «Second Sun» and a mix for «Seven Sins».

Under the new name the group first performed on February 4, 2005. In April of the same year the divergent artistic views provoked a conflict that split the group. Two musicians, Sergey Dubrovin and Alexander Bulban, quit and decided to restore the old project under the previous title. Starting from this point, a new chapter in the «Mechanical Apfelsine» has commenced. On September 9, 2006 the «Mechanical Apfelsine» becomes a prize-winner (in POP nomination) if the ‘DI Breakthrough 2006’ contest.

Apart from it, the group recorded new pieces, and in 2007 finalized a new web-promo аlbum «Space with out end» which included six original compositions in the best traditions of the classical SynthPop. In 2008 the «Rock Oracle №3» Journal publishes an interview with the group, аnd includes the ‘Unbelievers’ composition to the journal attachment. In March 2008 «Mechanical Apfelsine» started working on new songs again. In November a demo-version of ‘Space With Out End’ became available for free downloading in the major electronic music internet-portal www.synthema.ru. «Mechanical Apfelsine» in 2009: Sergey Dubrovin - vocal Alex Bulban – acoustic backing, sampling, synthesizers Ed Tabakov – synthesizers Mikhail Makarychev - text Read more on Last.fm.
