Born in Catania in 1952, she began singing very young. In 1965 he participated in the Festival dei Sconosciuti of Ariccia and won, but his victory was not validated because Marcella did not complete the minimum age required by the regulation. He recorded the first 45 laps, "Il pagliaccio", in 1969, and participated in the Cantagiro and the Venice International Exhibition. The first small success is in 1971 with "Hai ragione tu", the following year, 1972, is the excellent result of the participation in the Sanremo Festival with "Green Mountains", a song written for her by her brother Gianni. That same year he participated in the Cantagiro with "Sun that is born, sun that dies" and "Canzonissima" with "A smile and then ...

forgive me". In 1973 the sales success of "Io domani" and "Nessuno mai" arrives. In the following years Marcella's recording activity continued without major shocks. In 1985 he recorded a song that will become an underground cult, "Rio de Janeiro". In 1981 he took part in Sanremo and finished in ninth place with "Pensa per te"; of 1983 is the collaboration with Mogol for "Nell'aria", which gives a decidedly sexy turn to the image of Marcella, confirmed by the album of 1984, IN MY SKY PURE.

In 1985 he was the duet at the Festivalbar with his brother Gianni in "L'ultima poesia". In 1986 he obtained his best overall finish at Sanremo (third) thanks to "Without a bit of head"; the year after is the sixth with "Tanti auguri" (written text but not signed by Gino Paoli), the following year the fourth with "After the storm". He returned to the Festival in 1990 with "Verso l'ignoto", presented together with his brother Gianni. After a few years of absence from the scenes, Marcella returns to be alive with the single "Fa chic" and the album PASSATO E PRESENTE (2002); in 2005, at Sanremo, he ranks second in the "Classic" category with "Bastard Man", and at the Festival he returns in 2007 - still paired with Gianni Bella - with "Forever forever".
