Their debut album "Maqama" was released in 2008. 2. Kamil Haidar as a lead singer, Kris “Krisstal” Staluszka on guitars, Bart Kanak on bass & Peter “Podgoor” Podgorski on drums.

After 3 years of friendship, artistic trip and thousands of hours spent on recording, gigging and simply enjoying music, Maqama recorded two LPs, made 3 videos and played dozens of shows around Poland. 2009 In 2009 Kamil and Krisstal decided to make completely new project. Plan was to invest in production of an album called “Maqamat”, to make it on highest possible level. Because Krisstal is also a studio engineer and has his own recording place it seemed to be the best way. Also band hired another engineer (and his studio), Adam Toczko - polish legend, responsible for the most successful polish bands, golden, platinum and multi-platinum award winner - as person in charge, responsible for mixes. On 16 Oct 2009 Maqamat was released and gathered extremely great response from audience and press. Immediately Maqama started preparations to their first Polish Tour called “Maqamat Tour 2010”. 2010 In the beginning of the year, the band encouraged by great response to its debut, went on tour around Poland.

Totally it took around 30 shows in whole Poland. In March band was informed that they were chosen from around 700 bands to top 28 bands, to perform in finals of “Polish Woodstock battle of bands”. In April Maqama decided to make a short brake to enter the studio and record english version of Maqamat. Secret dream to spread the music around the globe was revealed for the first time. In May, Haidar and Krisstal who share musical director’s chair in Maqama decided to focus on making new record. The new approach is that this time gentlemen decided to make an English album and to go one level further.

The plan is to complete works in the end of the year. Maqama intends to release their second album in first part of 2011. The project is quite huge with many guests and cooperatives from around the world in plans. 2011 The band has just finished his second record called “Gospel of Judas”. Release date is predicted for late Spring.

Album was recorded in 2 studios in Poland, mixes and mastering were done in UK and United States. Second Maqama’s release is completely in English as the strategy for the year 2011, is to show band’s abilities internationally. When the lights go out… The band from its beginnings shows also it’s social awareness. As a first music group, Maqama became official partner of Polish Humanitarian Organization’s “Water Campaign”.

The aim is to provide access to clean water and sanitation systems in poorest countries and regions like Sudan, Afghanistan, Chechnya, Middle East. The band supports also Synapsis Foundation, the biggest and most specialized organization in Poland that provides medical and psychological support for people with autism. Read more on Last.fm.
