Manuel “Mannix” Martinez, Born in Ponce, Puerto Rico. Singer, musical director and one of Puerto Rico’s Legendary Voices (Sonero). Former singer of one of the world’s best Salsa orchestra with more than 55 years of existence, La Sonora Ponceña of Ponce, Puerto Rico. Mannix Martinez was also lead vocalist of the orchestra La Terrifica of Ponce, Puerto Rico recording hit singles like Pura, Pura and Casa Pobre, Casa Grande In 1986, he participated in the production “Back to work” with Sonora Ponceña where he recorded the song “Cancion”, also known as “De que callada manera”; becoming this song a “Gold Record” for Sonora Ponceña. He is also known for songs he recorded with this orchestra like “Pensando en ti”, “Como Amigos, como amantes”, among many others. In1980, Mannix Martinez recorded songs with La Terrifica including hit single Pura, Pura gaining a “Gold Record” for La terrifica.

He also recorded songs like Casa Pobre, Casa Grande, Se acabo la soledad and many others. His hits as a singer with these great orchestras led him to play at venues like Madison Square Garden in New York, Coliseo Polihedro in Venezuela, El Pascual Guerrero in Colombia, El Callao in Peru, Bellas Artes in Puerto Rico, Brazil, Mexico and Europe. Mannix Martinez shared stage with Latin Superstars like the “Queen” Celia Cruz and Pete “El Conde” Rodriguez to whom he now presents a tribute to, as well as to The Legendary Sonora Matancera of Cuba. He recently recorded his first cd solo “Estoy Aqui” conserving the great “Salsa Classic” style and also participated in a cd project of producer Radames Plaza of New York titled “Legacia de la Salsa” Mannix Martinez and his Band “A Tribute to the Legends” at present have performed at venues in Chicago and shows like The Navy Pier, Chicago Summer Dance, The Cubby Bear, Tumbao, Rumba, V-Live, The John Hancock Center, The old town School of Folk, Excalibur, Carnavale, Grand Terrace Banquet Hall, Chicago Summer Fest, Arlington Racetrack, The hotwater Wherehouse, Chicago International Salsa Congress, Indiana Puerto Rican Parade, America’s Historic Roundhouse Venue, Eagles Club in Milwaukee, The Congress Theater and others. Mannix Martinez always captivates the crowd with his unique style and great voice. He has a wide variety of music in his repertoire and presents most of the styles from romantic boleros to various dance styles like Salsa “Dura”, Salsa “Clasica” and Salsa “Romantica”, Merengue, Cumbia, Guaracha, and Cha,cha,cha.
