Mando Diao are a rock band from Borlänge, Sweden. According to the band, the name Mando Diao has no meaning at all, but rather appeared to band member Björn Dixgård in a dream. Their sound is influenced by The Animals and Oasis. The roots of Mando Diao date back to 1995 when Björn Dixgård was a member of a band called Butler. Band members came and went; four years later, the remaining line-up chose to proceed more seriously in their musical efforts.

Björn Dixgård and Gustaf Norén locked themselves up in a summer house and spent six months writing songs. The now-renamed band, along with Samuel Giers and Carl-Johan Fogelklou, made their first public performances in the clubs of their hometown Borlänge in 1999. A local writer described them in an article as the best unsigned band he had ever seen. This was soon followed by a record deal with EMI Sweden.

In 2002 their first album Bring 'em In was released in Sweden. It contains early demo versions of their songs, partly recorded in the basement of keyboarder Daniel Haglund who left the band later in 2003. In 2003 the album was released internationally, along with their debut single Sheepdog. In 2004, Mats Bjorke officially joined the band to replace Haglund's departure.

In the same year, the band is hailed enthusiastically by the music press as one of the most sanguine newcomer bands of the year. The album Hurricane Bar was released in 2005. Their third album, released in Europe and Japan in September, 2006 is called Ode To Ochrasy, which the band say has a "darker" feel, and features the single Long Before Rock 'n' Roll. To promote the release of the album, the band toured Germany, supported by Razorlight and Johnossi.

They also supported Dirty pretty things on their tour in England. The album was a big success and they won many prizes in their home country Sweden. Ode To Ochrasy was released in spring 2007 in US and Mando Diao toured the US to promote it. The band released a new album titled "Never Seen The Light Of Day" on October 24th 2007. The band supported The Bravery on their 2005 tour, along with Los Angeles band The Colour. Their songs Down in the Past and The Wildfire (If It Was True) feature on the EA Sports games NHL 2006 and NHL 08 respectively, whilst God Knows features on FIFA 06. www.mandodiao.com Read more on Last.fm.

\"I lost my love in a hurricane\"

are the words included in the opener \"Blue Lining\" on th \"Give me Fire\" record of ******do Diao and once more this band showed, how good they´re able to develop their music further.... This album includes a mixure of danceable and a little bit melancholic songs with wunderfull lyrics (e.g. Crystal). Otherwise it´s a new music style of ******do Diao, which they haven´t shown before and always worth to discover. So try this record out and after that, maybe the older?! ;)

Not only for MD fans!

Just like the other ones, GIVE ME FIRE is an extraordinary album worth buying. It contains so ******y different melodies, a song for every mood (something to relax, something to dance, but everything to feel good!)
The Swedish guys play and experiment with various instruments and without any doubt, they have developed a lot: except for “Blue Lining White Trenchcoat”, which sounds similar to the old garage-rock, they\'ve found their own style, that is far away from mainstream, although there is something for everyone on GMF.
All in all a great album, full of energy and spirit (only live it sounds better), not only to recommend for MD fans, but to everyone who likes good music.

tolle Band = tolles Album

Give Me Fire

This fifth album of ******do Diao is full of surprises. Once again the band has ******aged to create a new sound which includes elements of different styles but is still unmistakably ******do-ish and very much unique. As any of their albums, this one is not a simple collection of tracks but a coherent storyline. This time it\'s urban, steel, 60\'s and a bit dark. Right from the opening track the overwhelming energy catches you and keeps you engaged until the last song. Don\'t miss out the hidden bonus track - which is cleverly selected and placed at the very end to promise you sunshine and freedom. Overall, Give Me Fire is another present to the fans and strongly recommended to those who are still discovering the wonder of ******do Diao

it\'s all done in the mean street

this album is so amazing! dance with somebody and gloria are of course one of the best songs the most famous, but mean street and give me fire rock aswell!! Crystal is a wonderful calm-down ballad and the shining is a wonderful love song! and don\'t forget the hidden track!! all in all it\'s really one of their best records but the winter edition is with some more songs even better!!

5th ******do Diao Album

So I can\'t decide which one of ******do Diao\'s currently five albums is the best one. But this one here, Give Me Fire, is really really essential. You can listen to a huge musicial spectrum on this disk. There\'s always a song for the right mood, \"like a Quentin Tarantino Soundtrack\" one of the singers, Björn Dixgard once said, they have all a little 60\'s-influence. I won\'t stop listening to their songs, love them all, equal the new or old ones.
I guess you may feel that ******do Diao had this time their own studio and a more independence recording with Give Me Fire. Track by track fitting...

F***cking damn good music

This album differs from their older ones, but i would say in a good way, it is not the rebellious-sound you are used to hear from them, but hey, they grow up, went older and wiser! And so their music does! It is a marvellous album with a big variety of sound and styles i like that so much!! Everyone who had´nt listened to it --> go hurry up and do so!!!

Gets better with every listen

I guess ******do Diao have gained a lot of new fans with their new record \"Give Me Fire\" and its catchy singles like \"Dance With Somebody\". All these new fans obviously didn\'t know the older records, but I do and to me, the first listen to \"Give Me Fire\" was... well. I\'d go for \"shocking\".
One could compare with the first listen to the new Arctic Monkeys record \"Humbug\" which is very different from the older ones but the longer you listen to it, the more you love it.
\"Give Me Fire\" is very different from the older records, the songs are very catchy and make you want to dance, but it\'s just not like the ******do before. I like \"Give Me Fire\" and all the songs have their own, lovely character but in a way, the band has lost quite a bit of their authenticity with it.
Yes, it is a good record and yes, it definitely makes you happy while listening to it, but it\'s not their best. Everyone who loves \"Give Me Fire\" should have a listen to the older records to get an image of the band and of their real brilliancy!
If their was an option here to rate the record, I\'d probably give it 4 of 5 stars or something like that, you have to get used to their new sound as an older fan, which is not bad!, but songs like \"Dance With Somebody\" just seem to unpersonal compared to their older tunes. Apart from that, a really good record that people with a good taste in music should own!
