Manatabas (2002-2005) was a 4-piece (2002-2004) and then 5-piece (2004-2005) rock/metal band from Gradisca d'Isonzo (Gorizia, Northeast Italy), born in July 2002 out of two previous bands, The Generated Ray (1999-2001, pop rock/hip hop/crossover/grunge with a blend of electric guitars, keyboards and a drum-machine, where vocalist Matt and guitarist Ero played) and Death Generation (2000-2002, nu metal/extreme metal with some prog elements and horror overtones, where guitarist Manthys and drummer Pablo played). Manatabas music style was a personal and original combination of alternative rock, crossover rock, classic thrash, nu metal, and, after their first year, even prog rock and prog metal. Not knowing how to categorize themselves when asked, in 2003 they coined, admittedly joking, the new genre "Supreme Hardcore Arcadia Rock Metal" ("Arcadia" being the title of their longest and most complex song) to make fun of labels. They composed and played live with two guitarists and no bassist until finding one in 2004, their new member Slapface (already playing in two other bands: Eerie Sin, thrash metal, and Empty Truth, death/prog metal). The group played various live concerts, from December 2002 till September 2004, including an evening at MoraRock Festival in 2003, where they won the "Best Emerging Band" prize, and another one at Ciao Luca Festival in 2004, where they shared the stage with Beer Bong, Dagh, Rebus, Tapir Gets Angry, Danny's Wednesday and Di.Ser.T.ori; they also were among the organizers of the self-managed independent concert "Gradisca Underground" in 2004, where they played together with various emerging young musicians from their same town. Their first live and, in particular, the 2003 MoraRock live (their best recorded performance) were recorded on tape and reversed on CD, and, along with some homemade recordings, are their only audio material available today. They disbanded in January 2005 after Ero left the band in December 2004. Their main musical influences were: Korn, Metallica, Faith No More, Rage Against the Machine, Tool, King Crimson, Area, System of a Down, Pantera, Slipknot, Tool, Deftones, Slayer, Sepultura, Soulfly.
