It’s become extremely evident that hip hop as a whole is changing; and it’s not for the better. This is where all star rapper Mac N Awe, charging out of Burlington Ontario, comes to the rescue. “He has always been so good with words”- Mom Being pressed this summer is a throwback to the golden days of hip hop, with the release of “Stay Broke” available this June. In order to move forward with rap, we must go back to when it was at its best, at its realest.

We need to go back to the nineties, a time of musical perfection. Mac is attacking both modern social media conduits such as bandcamp.com as well as timeless mediums including compact disks and vinyl. With the momentum of live performances there is no end in sight. By age thirteen writing and rhyming was more than a way of life for this MC. After years of slaying the competition and battling many rap idols alike Mac N Awe, added winning the universal “My Block” song writing competition along with hosting one of Canada’s longest running hip hop radio broadcasts “Abstrakt Sundays” to his credentials.

Mac has always been a “fuck money” rapper. This kind of purest mentality is what kept his music true to his heart. Mac has worked with many diverse artists such as long time friend the talented DJ Gibbs, Lo-Fi and the Killing Time Band. Originally from the East Coast but grown in Burlington Ontario, the birth place of such heavy hitters as Grade, Jersey, St Alvia and Walk off the Earth.

This should be enough reason for people to start looking north for new releases. Mac N Awe has recently kidnapped a protégé, taking him along for the ride. Matthew Barnhart “Barney” from Burlington’s punk rock band “The Video Dead” has re-emerged as an alter ego MCB. Mac has given this new comer a platform to fulfill a childhood dream alongside local hip hop giants.

“It’s an honor to work with someone I have looked up to and respected for so long”- MCB. This is the summer hip hop fans get what they so desperately deserve. This is the summer that hip hop returns. This is the summer of Mac N Awe. Look out for the name, get out to the shows, educate yourself, and most importantly “Stay Broke”.
