M.E.D. is a hip-hop group known for stretching the minds of their fans through melodic, thought provoking lyrics and bass heavy beats. The three-member group consists of L-C.I.D, Philosophy and Anagram hailing from Kalamazoo, MI. Each member of the group writes their own verses and collaborates collectively on the style, tone and direction of the music.

They have been compared to such artists as The Beastie Boys, Eminem, and Outkast to name a few. While grateful for the comparison, Rapper Anagram says they are focused on building their own unique brand. “We don't sound, look or act like stereotypical rappers." M.E.D. developed their unique style, cadence, and swagger articulating a flow that is fast, but smooth; conveying a sound that people can dance, sing and bounce to.

Detroit based independent label Mobb North's owner Frank Glass, discovered them while dining at a Kalamazoo restaurant. M.E.D. has opened for Twista, Bizarre, Paul Wall, One Be Lo, and Brand Nubian. They were the 1st hip-hop group to perform at Oklahoma City's New Years Eve Festival.

They kicked off 2009 by dropping their first single "Money” (which is more about obtaining cash than having it) in January. The accompanying video is close to reaching 1,000,000 YouTube views and the full CD is expected in the 2nd quarter of 2009. Anagram is known as level headed and serious. His name means a word or phrase formed by reordering the letters of another word or phrase such as satin to stain.

His parents are trained vocalists and heavily involved in the arts which gave him inspiration to cultivate his own craft. Anagram says they ran the leather off their Jordan’s working to build the groups' fan base. "We pounded the streets with promotion for all of our shows at liquor stores, gas stations, clubs, intersections, large events, and every other place that would allow it.". "We wanted to be seen, and only we could make it happen" Anagram explained.

It was a group effort handling every aspect of their musical career from recording to grass roots marketing. Philosophy is known as being versatile. He says, “I can be silly or serious depending on what the situation calls for.” His name originates from Greek terms philos and sophia meaning "love of wisdom".Philosophy fell in love with hip-hop at the age of 4 yrs. old, when his grandmother bought him a Fisher Price radio and he tuned into local Detroit stations.

He spent his early years drawing, writing poetry and entering local rap contests. He is the son of an English Major so writing was a natural fit. Philosophy has been primarily responsible for graphic design, networking, booking, and promotion. Philosophy believes that M.E.D.

is about substance. “We’re hard to define because of how dynamic our subject matter is.” When asked to describe M.E.D. he answered, "Mental Elastic, Google That S@%!" L-C.I.D. is known as the comedian.

His name is an acronym for Lyrics Constantly in Demand. He grew up in a home surrounded by music; his mom admired the Motown sound and his father was a jazz enthusiast. L-C.I.D. says "I embrace all kinds of music, but hip-hop allows me to reach inside of my soul and connect with the masses on a personal level." He has been primarily responsible for all of M.E.D's recording and engineering.

As far as the Beastie Boys comparison, he says we have the same skin color, but adds, “It’s like comparing apples, there are many varieties but at the end of the day they are all just apples."
