He is known for his catchy melodies and memorable lyrics. Regarding his Mill performance, Lynn writes: Hello People! This is Lynn Nelson with a little insight into this infamous Lynn Nelson Live At the Mill Recordings. First let me say that it was actually March 2nd, 1992, like 8 PM on a Tuesday Night, that was a long time ago. This performance was part of an open mic night as the name implies.

Finally, THE MILL is a well respected bar/club/eatery there in downtown Iowa City behind what was then the Downtown Holiday Inn. I would have been 31 years old I believe. The songs from this performance span from about 1977 till I was right up there on the spot that night. I have been writing songs before I knew how to write them down, but since I've been able to write them down, it seems like there have been plenty. It was actually sort of a spur of the moment notion that lead me to perform. Side notes about the performance you might appreciate I was wearing blue Jeans and a blue T-shirt that had somewhat pronounced purple colored letters that spelled out Bud Light. The young ladies I'm talking to at the beginning and more or less throughout are actually strangers. My repeatedly saying Thank You was my mindless retort to someone in the Audience who kept saying ‘NO SHI_!'. I’ll let you fill in the blank.

You might be amused when you listen to the playback because on occasion you can still hear them. So listen! Hope you enjoy listening to it as much as I’ve enjoyed it though the years. -Lynn Nelson PS. Undoubtedly I’ll have to come up with a trivia game at some point. Read more on Last.fm.
