As a young musician, (19 yrs.), Pierre was asked to become the first fiddle player with the Grammy winner and legendary "Queen Ida and the Bon Temps Zydeco Band" of Lake Charles, Louisiana. After his first engagement with the band at the Monterey Jazz Festival, Monterey, California, Pierre was given the opportunity to spend years studying the music of the southern states of America while performing and recording and with Queen Ida, her younger brother Al "Rapone" Lewis, and occasionally playing double fiddle with the Grammy winner (and also legendary) Bluesman from Lafayette, Louisiana, Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown, and many other veteran musicians. Pierre was learning the tradition of southern American music from the roots up. In the hands of Pierre, however, the traditional sounds of the South are served up as a furious, modern mixture, with surprises waiting around every corner. Pierre's sound is heavily infused with Cajun, Zydeco and Bluegrass and with the hip-shaking-swashbuckling-gypsy-outlaw allure, and soul of his childhood hero, Doug Kershaw the "Ragin' Cajun". Pierre has had the bow-hairs screaming for mercy everywhere from New Orleans to Helsinki.

Since 1985, Pierre has led his own band and recorded several LPs and CDs under his own name. He has now been firmly placed in the "Devil went down to Georgia" category, and with the staggering performances of the self-penned "Hellbound Train", (a fiddle showcase number Pierre usually uses as an encore in his live show), it is easy to see why he is known as a demon fiddler himself. Pierre has toured, recorded and appeared on many television and radio programs throughout the U.S., Canada, British Isles and Europe, always delivering a high standard of musicianship and showmanship. In short, Pierre Le Rue is a blisteringly exciting performer, in his own unique style, at once celebrating and re-inventing his chosen genre, and he is bound to put the wind up everyone from Charlie Daniels to Vanessa Mae. Pierre has contributed his unique sound to recordings such as the legendary David Byrne's (Talking Heads) latest CD "Feelings" on the Luakabop\WEA label and the critically acclaimed London band Morcheeba's latest CD, "The Big Calm", China Records, U.K.
