Laura Butler is a New-York-based singer-songwriter and actress who has performed in venues all over New York, recently releasing her first album, “Crushing Blue Cupcakes,” described as a jazzy-folk delicious blend with the warmth of Norah Jones, uniqueness of Joni Mitchell, phrasing of Billie Holiday, versatility of Judy Garland, and poignance of Edith Piaf.
Her music can be heard on her website; iTunes, Amazon, CDBaby, last.fm and reverbnation. Recently she reached the top 100 in the folk charts on ReverbNation.com, a site that focuses on the independent music industry. She is now the Featured Artist of the Month on ArtistUpgrade (dot) com. In October, her music video “Worth It” was screened and well-received at the 1st Annual Astoria/LIC International Film Festival. Laura is planning a tour for 2011.
She will be recording more music videos and pursuing Pandora Radio and Last.fm , automated music recommendation services and online radio stations. Laura is also an accomplished actress and graduated cum laude with a degree in theatre and a minor in music and dance from The Ohio State University.
