We've enjoyed singing together for several years, giving concerts now and then. We are far from being professional singers - the joy of the song unites us. The name of the group - Laudaukse Kääksutajad may be translated to English as "Barn door Squeakers." Nice sound from an old Barn Door may sometimes be a impulse to a new song. :) Our life in town is sometimes changing the old sounds to the tempo and variety of modern life.

But we try to learn old songs to understand the tradition and create new songs and melodies to give the ideas of our generation to the next one. Most of the songs that we sing are folk songs called "regilaul" but there are also our own songs that sound very much like estonian folk songs. Regilaul is a traditional way of singing with a foresinger and a choir repeating the words. Sometimes folk-songs get a new life in our interpretation. We are also using some instruments, such as drums, Irish whistle, jews harp, bagpipe.

We love to sing our songs in natural environment, in nature, in a pleasant atmosphere but also in the halls with good acoustics. When choosing the songs, we pay a lot of attention on the message that they carry. The song must come from the bottom of the heart and should be given to the audience with great joy. We create strong ties with the past singing old songs in modern view and explaining our own thoughts through the words and sounds of our ancestors.
