Lars Fiil Quartet´s musical fulcrum lies in original compositions inspired by the "Nordic Sound" and the more aggressive, experimental expression of modern jazz. Drawing from inspirations such as Kurt Rosenwinkel, John Coltrane, Esbjoern Svensson Trio and Chris Potter, the band creates a unique and personal expression in today’s progressive, acoustic jazz. In June 2009, the quartet came out with their debut-ep titled ”L.F.K”*. Within short time, the record received airplay on the national radio station ”P2”. Read more on Last.fm

Since they started Lars Fiil Quartet has played a long series of successful concerts, among others during Aarhus Jazz Festival ’08 and ’09.

In addition to that, the quartet qualified for the semi-finals in the talent competition “Ung Jazz 2009”, organized by the Danish jazz federation “Jazzdanmark”. Besides Lars Fiil on piano and composition, the band consists of Lis Kruse on saxophone, Jens Mikkel Madsen on upright bass and Andreas Skamby Madsen on drums. They are all talented, young musicians who are, already, very active on the Danish jazzscene. Read more on Last.fm.
