LAF- Lost And Found
LAF- Lost And Found
He grew up listening to genres such as jazz, gospel, blues, reggae, soca..etc. His influences came from Tribe Called Quest, Black Sheep, Buju Banton, and many other acts. As a musician, his focal instrument is percussion, though he dabbled in trumpet and keys as a teen. Attending Miles College in Birmingham, al, he connected with Artistik and D.R.U playing in the band, learning more of each others deeper passion for all aspects of music.
He and Artistik would play around freestyling to instrumentals... not knowing Artistik was a REAL lyricist. Looking to work on a collaboration with Artistik, he was brought to D.R.U (also a former band member), which Artistik had let him listen to tracks D.R.U had produced (amazing!..to say the least). From there came the first, but showed to be not the last, track of LAF's repitour.
This natural chemistry have produced timeless music for an open audience...and promises to continue. -@rt!$t!k (da Lyricist) aka Artistik aka Huey FREEman Born and raised in Atlanta, GA in June of 1982. Artistik was surrounded by musicians all his life from family members to his friends in the band. He grew up listening to groups like Black Sheep, Leaders of the New School, Tribe Called Quest, Outkast, and all other artists and genres of music. He played brass instruments (trombone, baritone) as a teenager in bands in school as well as jazz gigs.
He connected with D.R.U. and K-Ro at Miles College in Birmingham through the band and grasp interest from each other through their various collections of CD's. Later on becoming fraternity brothers with K-Ro, he knew that K-Ro was a lyricist at the time but never got into rappin. It was a few years later that he got his first try at the mic while creating beats on Fruityloops with long-time friend D.R.U., the two then began to create a unbelievable promo album called @uditions.
K-Ro was featured on the track "We Thank You" and from then on the trio has continued to drop classic after classic with their homegrown styles and flare to tracks. The group was form by collaborations within the LAIR (da studio) upon the year of 2008. They're working on numerous projects with artists BITI, Jona Cronner, Take Flight, Mohammed, PAT, and others. The music they create has a strong point within each artists without the cursing so they consider it "GOOD MUZIK".Stay tune for more LAF "lair talk" in 2010. Read more on Last.fm.
