Kochenmitglas

KOCHENMITGLAS was a Hardcore-Noise Rock quartet from Hamburg, Germany and played a lot of live shows in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Norway, Sweden and Finland. Without explicitly promoting it, the band was often read as a part of the Riot Grrrl movement. One highlight was the decorating award as 'most promising new foreign hardcore act 2002' by a magazine poll out of Finland. A detailed interview in English language from 2003 done by the Swedish fanzine 'Motvind', can be found here. Read more on Last.fm

Called TO COOK WITH GLASS in german, this evil-minded quartet from hamburg beyond any easy sub-genreneering shook the political non-profit-diy-underground between 1999 and 2003, full of mean driving and deep emo-metal-noise-core, with screamo-growly-multivocalterror of everyone involved and added progressive song structures, weird harmonics and obscure but brutal rhythms. Formally, the band amalgamated Noise Rock-, Emo Violence- and No Wave-elements in favor of a massive and individual Post-Hardcore Fusion. The band often enrichened their numberous shows with musique concrète-like background playbacks of self cut'n'pasted, looped and electronically edited fieldrecordings of diverse noises of civilisation and other samples. The S/T 7" was recorded in early 2002 by Manuel Wirtz and released on his Eniac-Label 'Better Home Plastic Cooperation'.

Still, it is possible to order this vinyl record from former Kochenmitglas musicians. Furthermore, some tracks appeared on long time sold out compilations, like legendary 'kopf:hören' LP, published in Hamburg back then. Lyrics are somewhere in the wasteland between communication, control and contacts/ relationships, which you wouldn't understand anyway, but can be found here. They are written in German language and tend to be a misanthropically nihilistic brewerage of unusually personal, self-critical and sometimes psychotic content, mostly very cryptic, difficult to interpret and acoustically impossible to catch. Hamburg-emo-rrriot, fuck yeah!!! KOCHENMITGLAS members were Joy Kollinger (guitar, bass), Martin Schwendemann (drums, vocals), Nochirgendwer (bass, guitar, vocals), Kate C.

(vocals, sampling) and Winja Lutz. Former and contemporary music projects of those involved include: Tortura, K.C. McKanzie, Future Kill, Karg, Eschede, You Killed Me First, The Chickenoisette Splat'n'Death Boutique, Völkermord, Emmy Moll, Digger Barnes, Allie Total Blam Blam, Fuo. Read more on Last.fm.
