Since then he has been an enthusiastic promoter of folk music and other folk culture. He is a musician, writer, composer, publisher, impresario and, in innumerable other ways, a promoter of folk culture. For example, he has been actively rose painting since the late 1960's. He started a cafeteria and cultural hub in 1994.
He also runs the Triomphe Cultural Workshop, Tuddal Amphitheatre and Town Hall in Tuddal. He was appointed a government scholarship in 1989 and also has received numerous awards, including the Telemark County Culture in 1996 and two Grammy Awards. He was appointed Knight 1st class of the Order of St. Olav in February 1999, in recognition of his contributions to Norwegian folk music. Read more on Last.fm.
