It was recorded and created by the band's founder member, lyricist, guitarist.singer "Charlie Keighera", he has worked with past members of the band and involved new musicians to finish the album/CD. The motivation for the new recording was the continued interest of the band after all these years, especially on the www.

The band were always considered a "cult" type band. That cult status has evidently remained and grown over the years and following the success of the new album/CD, the bands website have stated that they are considering the recording of another collection of songs and possibly performing LIVE again in early 2010. King Of The Slums formed in the Hulme and Salford areas of Manchester in the mid to late 1980's. They released three album/cd's and 10 single/EP'S.

The band performed over 200 LIVE performances. The band's "cult" status was nevertheless supported by the music media in the early 1990's. The BBC, in particular the BBC's radio one presenter "John Peel" supported the band's early recordings. The music press, NME, MELODY MAKER, SOUNDS, reported the bands releases and LIVE performances with great favour.

National TV exposure on the BBC covering a LIVE performance of the band helped the band's exposure even further. The band were also becoming popular in the underground music scene in Europe and America and while planning a series of performances in the USA, the band split up. According to the band's websites, the split was a result of..'personality issues within the band and record company/managerial/publishing issues'. The new album/CD, will be a surprise to those that remember the band and may possibly be a new chapter for a unique/difficult/extrordinary "cult" band.
