King Of Trolls

In October of 2007, Frode Anderssen ( King of Trolls ) had written some new songs for his new CD about Alvin and the Troll. One of the songs was a majestic, rock and roll melody heavily influenced by Norwegian folklore describing the land in which the “King of Trolls” reigned. It was decided that the song, called "Far away", should be entered into a national song contest arranged by the Norwegian Broadcasting Network (NRK), where the winner of the competition would be Norway’s contribution to the Eurovision Song Contest 2008. Without much thought of even being noticed amongst the hundreds of hopeful composers participating in the contest, the surprise was staggering when "Far away" was chosen as one of six melodies to accompany twelve contributions from professional songwriters to compete for the possibility to represent Norway in Eurovosion. There were eighteen songs who were going to fight for eight slots in the big finale in Oslo Spektrum, and to get there the artists had to battle it out in three semi-finals around the country.

“King of Trolls” got to be in Bodø for his semi-finale, and the wild nature of the north really agreed with him, as he was one of two winners in Bodø who went straight to the finale in Oslo Spektrum. The day of the finale was February 9th 2008, and “King of Trolls” had spent his time wisely, being on TV and in newspapers and magazines. Of the eight contestants in the finale, only four went on to a super-finale where they got to perform their song one more time for thousands of excited people in Oslo Spektrum. By the end of the night “King of Trolls” was happy to end up in third place.

So King of Trolls was not representing the Norwegian mountains in the Eurovision song contest, but if you are lucky, you might catch the giant Troll somewhere near you real soon, cause because the band is now touring all over Norway.
